Manistee National Forest

Great hiking trails, bike trails, canoeing, snowmobiling and more at the nearby Manistee National Forest.

River Street, Manistee's main street, offers lots of small shops and a nice department store. Discover the antique shops, nautical shop, Christmas shop and the great little candle place. Stop in to Goody's Juice & Java for a cappacino or smoothie.

If you hear the toot of a lake freighter take advantage of this treat and watch a 600-700 foot freighter negotiate the turns and bridges of the narrow Manistee River.
Water Taxi

The Water Bug offers narrated tours of Manistee from the river. Trips start at the Riverwalk downtown at 1:00 and 3:00 pm or catch a sunset cruise.
Narrated water tours of Manistee

Manistee's Riverwalk runs along the south side of the Manistee River from the Lake Michigan beach and park up through the downtown area, about a mile and a half altogether. Catch the free weekly concerts at the gazebo on the north side of the river.
